Savoy Brown

This is the 2nd visit to the Narrows of the group that was in early on the British blues scene which spawned Eric Clapton and the Rolling Stones. A night for guitar aficianados as original member Kim Simmonds plays his flying V with gusto!

Tony Trischka’s Double Banjo Bluegrass Spectacular

Tony Trischka earlier this year released a new CD, which features comedian Steve Martin pickin’ and grinnin’, and he’d celebrating at the Narrows! Avant-garde banjo player Trischka keeps challenging himself as an artist, and that’s a delight for his listeners. You may have seen him on Letterman or heard him on Prairie Home Companion.

Beausoleil

They’re Grammy winners. They’ve got the Cajun thing going on. Need we say more?

Donna Jean and the Tricksters

Last time through, they were called Kettle Joe’s Psychedelic Swamp Revue. The name changed but the line-up is the same; Donna Jean Godchaux(fromThe Grateful Dead), Mookie Seagal (Phil Lesh and Friends), and members of the Zen Tricksters. It’s a psychedelic stew of rock, soul, jam band of sweet, sweet music.

Old School Freight Train

David Grisman has called them ‘an emerging force to reckon with in today’s wide world of acoustic music.’ Based in VA, OSFT has graced the Narrows several times with their brand of jam band, bluegrass, pop and what-have-you music. This is a guaranteed good time!! These guys are some of the finest musicians/singers/songwriters you’ll ever see!

Emerging Artist Showcase w/ Ryan Fitzsimmons Band, Grayson Capps, Maria Ventura

A showcase of three very fine up and coming songwriters. Ryan Fitzsimmons has opened for some big acts at the Narrows and just won the Providence Phoenix Best Male vocalist award, Grayson Capps is from New Orleans, he’s a got a soulful voice and is one heck of a songwriter. Maria Ventura, local girl makes good, she just won the Phoenix’s Best Female vocalist award.

Porter-Batiste-Stoltz

New Orleans comes to the Narrows once again via ‘PBS’ and their funky sound. These guys have been part of the Funky Meters, and each band member has a resume that reads like Who’s Who: They’ve worked with Dr. John, Paul McCartney, Robbie Robertson, Robert Palmer, the Neville Brothers etc

The Greencards

Kind of an Australian/British Invasion in the folkie/americana music scene, as this trio brings America’s own music to our shores and makes it their own. Huh? Anyway, they’ve toured with Bob Dylan and Willie Nelson and have been creating quite a buzzzz. They’re hot, baby!
