Comedy Night featuring Jim Lauletta and Steve Bjork

Jim Lauletta is said to be one of the most popular headlining college and club in acts in New England, Las Vegas and Atlantic City! He’s without a doubt comedy’s best kept secret. But not for long! His twisted, random and cynical delivery leaves crowds wondering, ‘What will he say next?!’. Jim’s national television credits include: HBO’s U.S. Comedy Arts Festival’s Best of the Fest, NBC, Comedy Central and Comcast’s Comedy Spotlight and most recently NESN’s Comedy All-Stars. Jim is guaranteed to leave you smiling for days even after you see his show! Today, Stephen Bjork is a polished veteran of the highly competitive Boston comedy scene with crisscrossing tours of the country under his belt. His material is intelligent; sometimes absurd, and always accessible, but first and foremost it is funny. What truly sets him apart from the teeming crowd of today’s comedians is that you never have to ask Bjork to work ‘clean.’ While so many comedians think working clean means simply omitting the F-bomb, Bjork takes everyday life and turns it upside down in a way that every demographic in any given audience can enjoy. And because he does it so well, no one ever misses the filth. A longtime favorite in nightclubs and colleges around the country, Steve enjoys equal success in corporate settings.

John Davis Caravan Celebrates Mark Twain

On the heels of his enthusiastically-received Narrows debut last summer, pianist John Davis returns to Southern New England sporting a brand new Newport Classic CD. Entitled Halleys Comet: Around the Piano with Mark Twain & John Davis, this new recording pays musical tribute to Americas most famous author, Mark Twain, whose career, like Davis’, lies at the intersection between white and black culture and high and low culture in American society. Released one hundred years to the day since Twains death on April 21st, 1910, Halley’s Comet also honors the 175th anniversary of Twains birth and the 125th anniversary of the publication of his most influential book, Adventures of Huckleberry Finn, all being celebrated in 2010. At the Narrows, Davis will perform pieces from the CD with connections to Twain, interspersed with readings of often hilarious, sometimes appalling, and always fascinating quotations from Twain and his contemporaries. And don’t be surprised if Davis plays Twain-related works from John Davis Plays Blind Tom and Marshfield Tornado: John Davis Plays Blind Boone, his two earlier, critically-acclaimed, hit Newport Classic recordings that have defined, excavated, and disseminated a previously-unacknowledged American roots music.

Adrian Belew (of King Crimson)

Adrian Belew is perhaps best known for his work as a member of the progressive rock group King Crimson and for his unusual approach to guitar playing, which features bizarre electronic tones, unorthodox playing techniques and a wide variety of sonic effects. Widely recognized as an incredibly versatile player, Belew has played guitar for Frank Zappa, David Bowie, The Talking Heads, and Nine Inch Nails, among others. He has also released a number of solo albums which blend Beatles-inspired pop-rock with more experimental fare. This is a rare solo electric performance that you will never forget.
