Cabinet Cannot Be Defined

They call themselves Cabinet; I’d say they’re Everything But the Kitchen Sink. Roots, bluegrass, folk, country, Americana, rock, reggae, to name a few. Their sound is so eclectic, I can’t imagine a fan of any genre disliking their music. I left thinking to myself, “I don’t know what that was but I want more!” Continue reading

Joe Fletcher and Friends Sail On Through

Last night’s performance transported me into an old western bar. The only things missing were swinging doors and drawing guns. Joe Fletcher is a powerful performer with the innate ability to command a crowd, as shy or timid as that crowd may be. He got everybody out of their shells by the end of the night, with tasteful sarcasm and audience participation. Even today, I still find myself singing along to “I Never.”

Brothers Comatose Takes Audience by Storm

While the rest of us did our best to dodge the heavy rain on Wednesday night, band members of Brothers Comatose were outside taking pictures of it. “Have you boys never seen rain before?” we asked, sarcastically, before remembering that they’re from California and they haven’t, not in about five years anyway.

The Slide Brothers “Steel” the Show

I went to church this weekend, but not on Sunday morning, as you might expect. Saturday night, the Slide Brothers led a mass of rhythm and blues, filling our mill with the legendary sounds of sacred steel. The band, led by Calvin Cooke, whom I like to call the Reverend of Soul, did not disappoint.

New Art Exhibit is Up and Running

If you missed today’s opening reception of our newest art exhibit, it’s not too late. “The Tenacity of the Figure” will be up for viewing during our box office hours until August 21st. We have the masterful work of 8 different artists including Donald Beal, Nancy Carrozza CaraDonna, Diane Cournoyer, Peter Dickison, Erik Durant, Pamela Hoss, Benjamin Martinez and Kelly Zelen. The exhibit was curated by Don Wilkinson, Art Critic and Columnist for the Standard Times and Artscope.
