Greg Brown 10/29/16

For over 30 years, Greg has been at the forefront of the singer songwriter movement. He’s an American treasure melding blues, folk, and jazz into his own unique sound. He’s still at the top of his game with his stunning new release ‘Hymns to What is Left.’

Opener: Karen Savoca was born in New Jersey. At fifteen, she bought herself a guitar with saved birthday money, and started writing songs.

Born in Syracuse, NY, Peter Heitzman has long been known as one of the region’s premier guitarists. He picked up the guitar at the age of 13, teaching himself how to play by listening to the Blues, Rock and R&B records he loved.

Karen and Pete met extraordinary musician and songwriter Greg Brown at a festival in 1999, and he asked them to tour with him. They’ve collaborated on recordings and benefit concerts, and have played hundreds of shows together across the U.S. and Canada.

The duo’s live performances are uplifting and hypnotic. As the sun was setting at the Vancouver Folk Festival ’99, for the first time in 22 year years, 10 thousand people inexplicably removed their shoes and waved them over their heads for what Karen calls, “The Miracle of the Shoes.”
