What Does the Narrows Do for Our Community?

In its 25 years, the Narrows Center for the Arts started as a small gallery and open-mic spot, and grew to become a cornerstone for the city of Fall River. Our organization is a cultural and economic catalyst, connecting our community together with great performances and exhibitions. Our programming highlights a diversity of voices, in an accessible, intimate space, and leaves each guest with an unforgettable experience.

• In conjunction with Rawkstars, an organization that provides music lessons for kids, we started a program at the Boys & Girls Club of Fall River that provides music instruction to over 50 kids annually. This program levels the playing field, giving kids who don’t have the resources the opportunity to pursue their passion for music.
• Once again, we partnered with the City of Fall River to present Summer Evenings in the Park. We visited 8 different parks where we connected with people in their neighborhood. We provided great music, fun art projects, food, ice cream and every family went home with a bag of groceries. We had over 3,500 attendees to these free events.
• We held our annual Take Me to the River Festival on August 23. Over 1,500 people attended this free event, and through their generosity, $2,600+ was raised for the Greater Fall River Food Pantry.
• In conjunction with the debut of Brian Fox’s exhibition, “In the Valley of the Shadow: The Cost of Walking with Death” over $2,000 was collected on behalf of the Veteran’s Association of Bristol County.
• We partnered with VET Tix to provide over 500 free concert tickets to currently serving Military personnel and Veterans.
• Following 2024’s sold-out run of Jesus Christ Superstar, we’ve continued our collaboration with Little Theatre of Fall River presenting three performances of RENT with over 1,000 attendees.
• We continued to collaborate with Viva Fall River and the Fall River Arts and Culture Coalition to market Fall River as a cultural destination.
• Every month we host The Same Thing Project, a workshop that fosters creative self-expression through songwriting and musical performance among people of all levels of ability, including those who are neurodiverse and differently-abled.
• In the Spring we showcased 500 pieces of artwork from Fall River Public School students, pre-K through High School, and hosted a special reception featuring performances by the B.M.C. Durfee High School Jazz Band.
• We partnered with other organizations to raise funds for many worthy causes. A sampling: “WinterStock” for the RiverStock Scholarship Fund of BMC Durfee High School; “10th Annual Music of Michael Troy Concert” for the Michael Troy Memorial Music Foundation serving the Durfee High School Music Program.
