Praised by Dennis McNally, the press, and fans, The Garcia Project has been recreating classic Jerry Garcia Band setlists with stunning accuracy and detail across the country for the last 10 years. They also just finished their new album called “Spirit: a tribute to Jerry Garcia and the spiritual songs he performed,” produced by Maria Muldaur and featuring Jerry Garcia’s bandmates Peter Rowan, Jacklyn LaBranch, Buzz Buchanan and Maria Muldaur. The Mallett Brothers Band is an independent rock and roll / Americana / country band from Maine. Their busy tour schedule since forming in 2009 has helped them to build a dedicated fanbase across the U.S. and beyond while still calling the state of Maine their home. With a style that ranges from alt-country to Americana, country, jam and roots rock, theirs is a musical melting pot that’s influenced equally by the singer/songwriter tradition as by harder rock, classic country and psychedelic sounds. RI-based Greg Abate is known the world over as a master of the alto saxophone and a hard core bebopper, but he does much more. He is also proficient on the soprano, tenor and baritone saxes, as well as the flute. He is also a respected composer; some of his 17 CDs consist of only his own songs, while others feature standards along with his own pieces.
Greg is one of a diminishing number of jazz artists who travel the world non-stop, often more than 225 days a year, performing in clubs and at festivals, giving clinics at schools and colleges and regularly releasing highly regarded and reviewed recordings which make the top 20 on the JazzWeek national radio chart. In 2016 he was inducted into the RI Music Hall of Fame.

Sarah Borges’s unbridled joy at making music two decades into a storied career comes through loud and clear in her latest long player, aptly titled Love’s Middle Name. Her third studio record with The Broken Singles, Love’s Middle Name is a muscular 10 song cycle that pulses with raw, gritty, unfettered emotion. As the kids like to say: this record has all the feels.
Conduct even a quick Google search, and you’ll find that Sarah has been dubbed everything from an Americana darling, to a roots rocker, to a cowpunk by tastemakers as diverse as The New York Times and Sirius XM Outlaw Country Radio. With this latest release Sarah Borges and the Broken Singles show that all of those titles are well deserved. Continue reading
Steve Forbert’s folk rock career has spanned four decades and counting. In June 1976, the twenty one year old boarded a train in Meridian, Mississippi bound for New York City, then the epicenter of folk music. His combination of musicianship and authenticity demanded notice. In less than two years, he went from being a street performer and living at the YMCA to filling historic Greenwich Village clubs and signing a major label record contract with Nemperor Records.
From 1978 to 1982, Forbert released four acclaimed albums. Rolling Stone contributing editor David Wild wrote that “now or then, you would be hard pressed to find a debut effort that was simultaneously as fresh and accomplished as Alive on Arrival … it was like a great first novel by a young author who somehow managed to split the difference between Mark Twain and J.D. Salinger.” Continue reading
Now in their fourteenth year, the Forever Young band is a group of performers that pay tribute to the songs of Neil Young. No one in the band tries to imitate Neil Young. There are five vocalists in the band and the songs are fronted by different members with added backing harmonies. All of the musicians performing in Forever Young are staples of the Rhode Island music scene and veterans of many national and regional tours. In addition, they are all fans and have been influenced by the music of Neil Young. Four of the members are performing singer-songwriters who have their own projects on the side. Continue reading

Dinty Child is a longtime member of the Boston roots/folk scene. A fearless multi-instrumentalist he can most often be seen with the band Session Americana, as well as the Chandler Travis Philharmonic, and as sensitive sideman to any number of singer/songwriters, including Rose Cousins and Kris Delmhorst. Around the Narrows he is maybe even more infamous for fronting the legendary twenty piece party band, the Funky White Honkies during their annual sold out dance fests. Many people know that Dinty is a great songwriter, but it wasn’t until earlier this year that he finally put out the first album, Lucky Ones, under his own name. He is bringing a full band to our stage to play those songs and more. Continue reading
