The Mallett Brothers Band is an independent rock and roll / Americana / country band from Maine. Their busy tour schedule since forming in 2009 has helped them to build a dedicated fanbase across the U.S. and beyond while still calling the state of Maine their home. With a style that ranges from alt-country to Americana, country, jam and roots rock, theirs is a musical melting pot that’s influenced equally by the singer/songwriter tradition as by harder rock, classic country and psychedelic sounds. RI-based Greg Abate is known the world over as a master of the alto saxophone and a hard core bebopper, but he does much more. He is also proficient on the soprano, tenor and baritone saxes, as well as the flute. He is also a respected composer; some of his 17 CDs consist of only his own songs, while others feature standards along with his own pieces.
Greg is one of a diminishing number of jazz artists who travel the world non-stop, often more than 225 days a year, performing in clubs and at festivals, giving clinics at schools and colleges and regularly releasing highly regarded and reviewed recordings which make the top 20 on the JazzWeek national radio chart. In 2016 he was inducted into the RI Music Hall of Fame.

Steve Forbert’s folk rock career has spanned four decades and counting. In June 1976, the twenty one year old boarded a train in Meridian, Mississippi bound for New York City, then the epicenter of folk music. His combination of musicianship and authenticity demanded notice. In less than two years, he went from being a street performer and living at the YMCA to filling historic Greenwich Village clubs and signing a major label record contract with Nemperor Records. Now in their fourteenth year, the Forever Young band is a group of performers that pay tribute to the songs of Neil Young. No one in the band tries to imitate Neil Young. There are five vocalists in the band and the songs are fronted by different members with added backing harmonies. All of the musicians performing in Forever Young are staples of the Rhode Island music scene and veterans of many national and regional tours. In addition, they are all fans and have been influenced by the music of Neil Young. Four of the members are performing singer-songwriters who have their own projects on the side. Continue reading
