Summer 2023 Letter to Patrons
Dear Friends,
I/we would like to thank you for your longtime support and patronage. Without your financial support, we would not be able to offer the wide-ranging programming that takes place within the Narrows and outside in our community. The Narrows Centers’ mission is to make the Arts accessible to everyone. Through partnerships with the City of Fall River, our neighbors and our patrons, we have expanded our efforts to nurture and sustain arts and culture throughout the community and beyond.
Most recently, the Narrows partnered with the Fall River Public Schools and the Fall River Arts and Culture Coalition (FRACC) to form South Coast Creative Arts Lab (SCAL), an after-school Arts and Music Program for 7th and 8th graders. Twice a week for 16 weeks, students were bussed to the Narrows Center where they were fed a healthy snack, participated in a 30-minute Yoga/Meditation class and then enjoyed an hour and a half of arts and/or music instruction. After each class, students were then bussed to their homes. At the close of 16 weeks, the students’ artwork was proudly exhibited in our Narrows Café Gallery and the students musically performed on the Narrows Stage. The program was a rousing success and we have secured funding for another year of classes.
The Narrows in collaboration with Viva Fall River, FRACC and the City of Fall River returns with our Summer Evenings in the Park series. In July and August, we’ll, once again, bring high quality arts, live music, food, and fun to eight different parks throughout the City. These events have also been an opportunity for the Fall River Community Food Bank to educate folks about the services they provide while dispensing bags of groceries to families in need in attendance. It’s one of the finest examples of our Commitment to Community in addition to our partnership with like-minded agencies and non-profits.
The next Community event on the horizon is an outdoor concert series, on the newly minted Senator Thomas Norton City Pier. We will be announcing detailed plans for that soon.
The Arts expand perspective, brighten experience, and inspire vision for future generations. At the Narrows Center for the Arts, it is our goal to bring tools into the hands of current and future creators, and your support helps make that happen.
We just completed a video that tells the story of the Narrows and how we continue to impact the community. We invite you to take a few minutes and view it here. We look forward to seeing you this summer at a show or out in the community. Once again, sincere thanks for your continued support. We simply couldn’t do it without you.
Sincerely,
Patrick, Deb, Rachel, Ian and the Board of Directors of the Narrows Center
