This exhibition is about five printmakers demonstrating their skills in a joint exhibition. Whatever technique is used, a keypoint about the prints in this show is that each one is produced by hand. Original prints are not reproductions, they are original works of art created by the artist who is deliberately creating an effect that cannot be achieved any other way. The exhibition demonstrates the wide variety of techniques, media, styles and subjects that are covered by the term ’printmaker’. It is our memberships at 7 Suns Printmaking that brings us together but it is our passion for printing that unites our artwork.
Inspired by a large array of artist such as Edward Hopper, Edvard Munch and Auguste Rodin, and writers such as Fitzgerald, Steinbeck and the bible, my current art works explores history, time and mood by interpretations of photography, written word, music, and color. My goal is to tell a story in a single frame. A book with a single chapter. My current chosen medium has been acrylic on board, or canvas but my most recent art includes intaglio and mono-print. I have begun showing work over the past 18 months and have been accepted to three juried shows in this time.
